We are thrilled to announce the launch of the YES Top 35 Under 35 Competition in partnership with the esteemed Daily Maverick. This exciting initiative aims to recognise and showcase the remarkable achievements of former YES Youth who are driving positive change in their respective fields post-programme.
What is the Top 35 Under 35 Competition?
The Top 35 Under 35 Competition is a platform designed to spotlight the outstanding contributions of former YES Youth who have completed the YES programme and are making waves in their careers. From budding entrepreneurs to young professionals, this competition celebrates the diverse talents and accomplishments of young leaders new talent that has emerged from the YES programme.
Who can apply?
The competition is open to all former YES Youth who are changing the game in their field post-programme. Are you a manager, business owner, professional, change-maker or leader now? If yes, then this is for you!
Eligibility requirements:
• Completed the full 12 months of the YES programme.
• Completed their YES year on or before 31 December 2023.
• Are employed or running their own business/organisation.
• Are under the age of 35 at the time of application (i.e. was born after September 15, 1989).
• Are not currently a YES employee, or are a family member of a YES employee.
How to apply:
To apply for the competition, simply complete the online application form here. The application form cannot be saved to complete later, so we recommend downloading a copy of the questions here, preparing your answers in a Word document beforehand, and then copy-pasting the relevant answers into the application form when ready. Don't forget to include references and their contact details as part of your application.

How does it work?
After the application deadline, youth will be short-listed for the second round of the competition. Based off of tasks completed in the first and second round, an esteemed selection committee will review all submissions and select the Top 35 Under 35 Alumni. The selection process will involve reviewing the applications based on the eligibility criteria and the demonstrated impact of the nominees since completing the YES programme. Selected candidates will be notified and provided with further instructions regarding the next steps.
What are the benefits?
Selected Top 35 Under 35 Alumni will receive various developmental perks, including media training, professional headshots, LinkedIn profile revamp, coaching, an opportunity to film their stories, book packages, and more surprises to be announced. Additionally, their stories will be featured in the prestigious Daily Maverick newspaper, providing unparalleled exposure and recognition for their achievements.
