Phumi Tshabalala’s YES journey
“Oh, how time flies! I cannot believe that my 12-month experience at Buckman Laboratories is nearly coming to an end. This YES journey has been one of growth, and it has been a journey filled with the re-ignition of my passion in finance and accounting. If I were to describe how I feel as a YES graduate, I would simply say, privileged,” says Phumi.
Phumi Tshabalala is a proud YES alumna. Being a part of the YES programme added value to her career and life and has also done the same for her family’s wellbeing as well. She can firmly say that she is not the same Phumi she was in the beginning of her journey. She went from being a BCom accounting graduate who was solely filled with knowledge, to becoming a suitable, experienced young professional with the potential to excel in any work environment. The role off accountants, and commerce graduates, in the economy is very important. The financial management of any business determines its success and longevity. Phumi has been and will continue to fulfil roles that ensure that company resources are managed, multiply, used reasonably and with the intent to grow the company which, in turn, helps develop the economy and associated industries.[1]
The above was made possible by the Buckman finance team. She was fortunate enough to be a part of a team that allowed her to actively participate in their day-to-day duties. The skills she gained during her work placement have been immeasurable. Buckman has played a crucial role in honing her skills and training her to become a valued and sought-after employee. She is proudly bleeding green!
